Openoffice

In the free open-source office suite Apache OpenOffice, Calc is the spreadsheet equivalent to Microsoft Excel. Calc allows you to open and edit files originally saved in other programs and formats, including Excel XLS and XLSX. Although many elements on a spreadsheet saved in Excel are supported by Calc, some do not work or run the same way or at all.

Supported Elements

Calc allows you to open both non-protected and password-protected Excel files. Ft231x usb uart driver. In general, Calc displays formulas, charts, tables, objects, text formatting, colors, 3D effects and list styles as you might see them in Excel. It even supports pivot table data and the original physical dimensions of pie chart graphics.

Problem Areas

Calc isn’t entirely compatible with Excel. For example, Calc doesn’t use Visual Basic for Applications for macro creation like Excel does. Additionally, Calc doesn’t handle all types of formulas the same way as Excel. As a result, you will need to rewrite certain macros and formulas to make them work in Calc.
